A dog named "Ares," who was reported for swimming on the beach in Izmir and taken to a shelter by municipal teams, died from parvovirus (bloody diarrhea) he contracted at the shelter. Ares's death sparked grief and outrage among animal lovers.

After spending some time at the shelter, Ares was rescued by volunteers and rehomed. His new owner took him to a veterinarian and diagnosed him with bloody diarrhea. Ares was immediately treated and, despite days of intervention, died today.
