The reactions of heads of state and government around the world to the US attack on Venezuela's (former) President Nicolas Maduro vary widely. China is deeply shocked by the blatant use of force by the US against a sovereign state. Russia demands the release of the “legitimately elected president of a sovereign country and his wife.” Mexico's Foreign Ministry condemns the military action as a “clear violation of Article 2 of the United Nations Charter.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has praised the US attack on Venezuela and Maduro's arrest as a landmark example of how to deal with “dictators.”
