16.4.2025 – US-Präsident Donald Trump erhöht den Druck auf die Eliteuniversität Harvard: Nachdem das Bildungsministerium bereits Fördergelder in Milliardenhöhe auf Eis gelegt hatte, droht Trump nun auch noch mit dem Entzug von Steuervorteilen und mit der Einstufung der Uni als "politische Organisation".

Der frühere US-Präsident Barack Obama lobte Harvard für den Widerstand gegen eine Einflussnahme durch die Trump’sche Politik.

US-Hochschulen galten lange Zeit in vielen Forschungsbereichen als führend und waren attraktiv für Wissenschaftler aus aller Welt. Nun wird ein „brain drain“ befürchtet – also die Abwanderung von Talenten.

Gilt aber nicht für das Weiße Haus: No brain – no drain

US President Donald Trump is ratcheting up the pressure on elite university Harvard: after the Department of Education withheld billions of dollars in funding, Trump is now threatening to withdraw tax-exempt status and classify the university as a "political organization".

Former US President Barack Obama praised Harvard for its resistance to Trump's policies. US universities have long been regarded as leaders in many areas of research, attracting scientists from around the world. Now there are fears of a "brain drain."

But does not apply to the White House: No brain – no drain
