P-51D is definitive edition of P-51 series! And has well-formed body, high speed(exceed 700km/h) produced by Merlin V-1650, high dog fight ability, and long range. Nearly 8000 P-51D and P-51K(export version for England) were built and contributed to WW2 triumph!!
By the way, P-51H is improved version and can fly nearly 800km/h at high altitude but only about 550 was constructed as WW2 ended in 1945.
