The United States and Iran have both presented their positions in the confrontation as a success. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the world had accepted Iran's victory, while the United States continued to increase economic pressure on Tehran and prepared a new package of sanctions described by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent as potentially the toughest in history.

Meanwhile, Washington has maintained that its combination of a naval blockade and intensified sanctions will succeed in forcing political change in Tehran. Bessent said the measures would form a "one-two punch" and predicted they would work against the Iranian leadership. Tehran has rejected the sanctions, while Iranian officials continue to insist that the country has withstood U.S. pressure and emerged from the conflict successfully.
