New revelations about illegal dealings in the energy sector are rocking Ukraine. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has released audio recordings in which they can be heard discussing bribery systems in the energy sector and the subsequent laundering of millions of dollars. According to investigators, the criminal group is said to have taken control of the state-owned energy company Energoatom. One of the recordings even mentions plans to embezzle funds that were actually intended for the construction of protective facilities at energy plants.
