Die Europäische Kommission ist optimistisch, dass die ersten unterirdischen Endlager 2025 in Betrieb gehen können und hat eine "technologische Plattform" eingerichtet, um die Entwicklung zu beschleunigen
Schon die jetzt in Betrieb befindlichen Atomkraftwerke erzeugen jedes Jahr 10.500 Tonnen an hochradioaktivem Müll.
Ein Endlager gibt es aber noch in keinem der Atomstaaten.
